PHOENIX Sustainability 2020

September 8, 2020: PHOENIX is working toward more efficiency and sustainability. The infographic below gives a little insight into how PHOENIX is taking a multi-level approach toward sustainability practices for our customers, our industry and our environment.
Simple Steps with Huge Impact
Committed to Recyclability and Innovating with New Materials
PHOENIX currently offers a variety of polypropylene closures that are designed to be recycled by the consumer. In addition, we are actively sourcing new raw materials and innovating product consumption to enable more of our finished goods to be collected or separated from waste streams and recovered for future re-use.
Reducing Our Waste and Reducing our Carbon Footprint
We have reduced 40% of our scrap creation since 2018. We also strive to reuse or recycle all current production scrap. To date, we keep 95% or more scrap out of landfills through recycling and reuse scrap programs. Products, byproducts, and raw material scrap are sent to recyclers, not to landfill.
Save and Maximize Energy
Efficiency Through Conservation
All PHOENIX manufacturing plants use high efficient lighting and sky lights are installed, where possible, to maximize the use of natural daylight. Utilization of natural cooling for plant chiller system reduces need for generator powered colling while scheduled energy curtailment programs at all PHOENIX locations reduce consumption.
More Efficient Packaging Means More Caps per Truckload
A redesign of our two largest closure sizes allowed for stacked packaging which increases the carton capacity by up to 89%. This allows for more closures per truckload, which means fewer trucks on the road.
Valuable Partnerships That Share Our Sustainability Vision
PHOENIX partners with vendors who abide by forestry initiatives, are Operation Clean Sweep Certified, and work continuously to reduce material waste, increase efficiency and water usage and move toward lower emissions.
